.

How do I price art, is the price negotiable :

By taking into account its historical, aesthetic, and social context, you can determine a fair and equitable price for the artwork that reflects its true worth. Art valuation involves a deep appreciation for the cultural significance of art, as well as the economic and commercial forces that shape the art market. The price of art is driven by those who sell it such as galleries, curators, the artist who are responsible for marketing and brining exposure to the actual artist and associated artwork.

Understand that artists and galleries generally want and even may expect you to negotiate. In the art space, negotiation is a standard practice in many art transactions. Artists and galleries are not bound to negotiating with customers, but each understands it’s a part of the process.

What's the difference between an Original and a Limited Edition:

Original artworks can be unique or maybe not. However, Original artworks are created by the artists own hands representing to the artists as their one-of-a-kind pieces. With limited editions (prints), artists restrict the total amount of artworks produced in the edition, so that each individual work will retain its value over time. Limited editions can be referred to as original art in print form.

Do Prints de-value the original artwork :

The original is not the same as a print. Original art will sell for much more and holds a much higher value than a print. You may be surprised, but prints in no way devalue the original artwork because there is only one original no matter what!

How do artists come up with their ideas for creating artwork :

For some, it may be a personal experience or memory that drives them to create. Others may find inspiration driven by political events, nature or everyday objects, figures and scenes. Some artists are even inspired by other works of art, whether it is a painting, sculpture, poem, song, dance!

Do I have enough wall space :

There are a few standards rules of thumb to go by in assessing wall space for a particular piece of art:

Art in your home should be at eye-level.

Only about 60 inches from the floor to the center of the piece.

The artwork should be two-thirds the size of the sofa or floor board beneath it.

The center of the piece should be about 58” high – that's the standard height for paintings in an art gallery.

Your artwork should be at least a foot from the edge of the wall to the edge of your print.
